​Lapland, Finland - Glass igloos, dawn husky sledding, the Northern Lights overhead. Families book next December as soon as this one wraps, so the good rooms go fast.

​London - Regent Street lights, Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, Borough Market's seasonal stalls. West End shows and Thames fireworks sell out months out, and family hotel packages go with them.

​Strasbourg & Paris - Strasbourg's Christmas market (running since 1570!) paired with a sparkling Champs-Élysées makes a trip that works for a 7-year-old and a 17-year-old alike.

​Vienna - 150+ stalls of Glühwein, chestnuts, and Lebkuchen against Gothic City Hall, plus a second market at Schönbrunn Palace through January 6. Grab a central home base early.

The Caribbean - Nassau's Junkanoo (Dec 26–31) is a kid-dazzling parade of costumes and music; St. Barths offers a more polished, multigenerational-friendly scene.

Maldives - Overwater villas made for family relaxation. Four Seasons, Patina, and Soneva run full holiday programming, and family villas disappear first.

​Japan - Tokyo's electric New Year's countdown vs. Kyoto's quiet 108 bell rings and first sunrise. Rooms around New Year's go faster than expected - plan a year out if you can.

🌟 Sleeper Hits

• Mexico (Los Cabos/Riviera Maya) - easier pivot from a booked-up Caribbean, shorter minimum stays
• ​Southern Thailand (Krabi/Koh Samui) - dry season, low-key holiday vibe, fewer crowds
• Scotland & Ireland - Edinburgh's Hogmanay for older kids, castle hotels like Adare Manor for a fairy-tale pace
